Howto Remove the ATI Catalyst ControlCenter submenu from RightClick Desktop menu

ATI Technologies (ATI) was the main producer of Graphical cards, motherboard chipset and others. In 2006,  the ATI was acquired by AdvancedMicroDevices (AMD).  But still the ATI brand is retained with certain products.

If you have AMD computer, it is possible to have the ATI CAtalyst submenu when you rightclick on the Desktop:

How to remove it:

1. Manual way: Open Registry Editor  /Start button –> Run –>  regedit.exe  –> OK/ and then find out  the following key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ACEDouble

Then click on the Default  value in the right hand side.

Then add some dots or dashes  in front of the value – it will disable it.

Press F5 to refresh registry editor.

Now right-click on the desktop and tou will see that the ATI submenu is removed.

2. Automatics way: you can download this program http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html  and use it to disable ATI.

In the list, find  the “SimpleShlExt Class”  text with the description “ACE Context Menu” , and click Disable button.

love to write some material for your blog in exchange for a
link back to mine. Please shoot me an e-mail if interested.

    Thank you!
